I finally got all 38 chapters of the story posted again! As I said before, I’m not sure how regularly it will be updated but if you all can be patient with me will get finished at some point. It actually hasn’t even been a year since this story started, which is really amazing considering it’s over 200,000 words already. Wowza. Thanks to everyone who kept on me about reposting this story and I’m sorry it took so long to get it back together. I was having a rough time there for a while :)

I know that I disappeared for a while, but when I came back, The Girl of District 7 had completely been taken down. Now, I don’t know if I am crazy or what, but this really confuses me. I loved the story and kept waiting to hear about an update. But then none came (on your TGD7 Tumblr). I finally gave up waiting, and went to look for it. And now it is gone. Can you explain to me why/what happened to the story? I couldn’t find an explanation on your main blog/FF page either. ~emjay

Hey emjay! Good to hear from you again!

So here’s the low down on what happened:

I started writing ADAD a while back (about the middle of the summer) and it turned into a huge project- more so than I expected. It takes a lot of research to make a single chapter happen and so I was falling behind on TGD7. I kept trying to post regularly, but it was a struggle to keep up and honestly, the stats were telling me there wasn’t anyone reading it anymore. I also started a full time job which then cut into my update time further (boo real life). So, I held off for about a month and a half before taking the story down on both my ff.net and ao3.

I swear I wasn’t trying to disappear on you. No one asked about the story so I figured it was just like I thought and no on was reading it. So that’s where I am with that. I’m thinking about making a second FF.net account and reposting it. I hate to do it on my main account there because I have a bunch of people who subscribed to me as an author for everlark type updates and I don’t want to spam them with my non-everlark TGD7. Hope that helps to answer some of your questions! Feel free to send me any other questions or if you have a preference where I repost :)

Excerpt: 

“Everything is okay, Camellia.” He continues to assure me as he rubs a hand over my back like I used to do for him when he was a little boy, “You’re safe here. We won’t let anything happen to you.”

His words are the last straw and the tears I have been holding back for months finally break free, flowing freely down my face as I cry silently into my brother’s shoulder. He shouldn’t be so strong. It’s my job to make him feel safe.

“I’m so broken, Ash.” I whisper as though admitting it is treason.

“I know, sissy.” He says softly and I realize he’s crying too. He hasn’t called me sissy since before mom and dad died. I knew my heart was shattered beyond repair before but now it feels like the tiny pieces are grinding themselves into my chest.

“You don’t have to be so brave.” Ash murmurs after a long pause of silence while we both continue to cling to each other. “You can talk to me about it.”

I shake my head into his shoulder, “Talking hurts.”

While Camellia was in the Capitol, Rowan would sit alone at nights and silently hope that she would make it back alive so that he might help her heal.

This song always reminds me of what Rowan was thinking about after he brought Camellia back from the club in the Capitol.

This song reminds me of things when Camellia was first reunited with Ash and Holly but I also think it works well for their family’s little theme.

Camellia and Rowan were both lying to themselves for way too many chapters

One Day Like This- Elbow

Rowan after Camellia tells him she loves him too.

Birds of a Feather- The Civil Wars

This one reminds me of Camellia and Rowan when they’re angsty arguing with each other.

Sorry for the wait. I’ve been pretty stressed out lately (like getting tension headaches for the first time in my life) but I spent the day volunteering and now I’m curled up in bed with my blankets and in the relaxed writing mood. I’m not sure when it will be up but just know  I’m type, type, typing for you.

Excerpt: 

“Ash, you need to get up, now.” I order, throwing his bag down on the foot of his bed.

“Why?” He mumbles, sitting up and running a hand sleepily over his eyes, “What’s this?” He asks nodding toward the bag.

“It’s all your clothes.” I explain, my words coming out flat and staccato.

He frowns and moves to unzip the bag, letting out a surprised sound when he sees that I’ve told him the truth.

“Why?” He asks incredulously, looking up at me for the first time. His eyes widen.

“Camellia, what happened?” His voice is rife with panic.

I look down at my clothing and arms and remember with detached interest that I’m covered in blood. It’s dried now, crusting my hands and filling in the cracks in my skin. If I didn’t know it was someone else’s blood, I’m sure it would be a heart stopping sight.

“It’s not my blood, Ash.” I explain shortly. I think momentarily about going to wash it off but there’s really no time for that and good appearances are not necessary where we’re going. Every moment needs to be used to get us as far away from this district as possible.

“Holly,” I call, moving over to shake her awake, “Come on Holly. We need to get up and go for a walk.”

The next chapter of TGD7 is finally starting to come together. Hopefully I’ll be able to get through it and proofread by the end of the weekend.

Excerpt: 

Peacekeepers. My muscles tense and I stand as they walk up to the porch.

“Miss Goldenlarch?” One of the men inquires with a slight accent indicating he hails from somewhere other than seven.

I don’t recognize either of the men but it doesn’t surprise me since a train arrived last week, bringing in new peacekeepers to monitor the district more closely during the Games. I think a part of Snow is always worried that the districts might finally snap and try to fight back as they watch their children get murdered. Nothing ever happens though.

“Yes.” I answer, trying to keep the edge of suspicion from my voice.

“We just wanted to have a little talk with you.” The other slurs, his voice carrying that all too familiar Capitol accent. I sniff the air just as a breeze brushes by and I catch it. I can’t believe I didn’t smell it the second they got here- they reek of alcohol.

“I wasn’t aware that Peacekeepers are paid to talk with district citizens. I thought your duties ended with enforcing the peace.”
